The engine number is on the front of the block near the gearbox joint.I suspect that the number you will be looking for is F9Q 750 which is the more common 120bhp engine.

As MN rightly says,the 120bhp has the 6 speed box,but there are a number of less powerfull 1.9dCi's ranging from 92bhp,100bhp,107bhp and then the 120bhp.I'm not sure if any of the other engines made it the UK though.I automatically thought that all the early 1.9 dCi Laguna 2's brought here were 120bhp,then they went up to 130bhp when the FAP equipped cars were introduced.

I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
