Hello and welcome to the forum.
It sounds as though the rotating connector behind the steering wheel has broken and this is causing the clicking noise when turning the wheel.The connector is used by the airbag and if it is faulty the system will pick up on the fault and throw the light on.
Checking the connection involves removing the airbag,and this is something that I don't generally advise people to do unless they know exactly what they are doing and know the safety implications when working with airbags.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
