Sorry I can't help with specifics here but it may be worth checking the fusebox for blown fuses if you haven't already.
The zigzag dashboard light may be indicating an electrical fault.
My dashboard stopped working altogether and took the central locking along with it, try removing and replacing the fuse relating to the dashboard just in case it can be reset, this worked for my 2001 Espace but it has a digital display type dashboard and may well be very different in operation.
I noticed nobody has replied so I figured giving you something to check is better than no help at all.
Disconnecting the battery for 10-15 mins. may work, just remember you may need the radio code and know how to put it in. (usually this info. can be found in the users manual for your car)
