To be honest , this is a disgrace on the garage that did the alignment; the steering wheel should be set and locked in the central/ straight ahead position and on the 4-wheel alignment machine notice should be taken of the position of the rear wheels first to acertain the correct thrust angle typically 0 degrees(imaginary striaght line through the centre of the car) and when this is correct (if adjustable as some cars aren't) only then should the front be tracked, as , when no notice is taken of what the rear of the car is doing, what is it being tracked against!! , last thing you want is the car crabbing as it were and lastly the track rods should be evenly adjusted, which should end up being the case if initial alignment has been done correctly, hope these points help.
