I can't offer any solutions here (was going to say the same as saabguy)

What I can say is that the radio system is seperate from, but integrated with the display system on newer Renaults and by putting an aftermarket stereo in you have interrupted the circuit in some way. I think what Madnoel is getting at with regards to the ISO adapter is that these adapters are wired specifically for your vehicle so if wired without one (or one not made for your car) the circuit may not actually be complete, therefore it won't operate correctly.

As with anything electrical, a check of the fusebox is in order to make sure it hasn't been caused by a fuse blowing that belongs to a related subsystem.
