You could always try one of the fuses by the driver's door hinge and see if that helps?

I still think that in some cases there's legs in the "disconnect using radio removal tools" method of rebooting the sat nav, but this will only work if the failure's not down to the aerial, which it looks like mine might be.

I got a paid of the radio removal tools from Halfords for 4.99 by the way. If you've got a store locally it may be worth you getting some.

I may sound completely mad but if I was more competent with my hands, I'd try and get my local independent Renault specialist to buy an original shark fin aerial for me for 70 from Renault, and then fit it myself. But I just don't fancy taking apart the headlining and dealing with wires etc. The reason I'd ideally prefer to get an exact aerial replacement is to retain a bit more resale value, compared to a DIY fix. But then again by the time I've put a few more years' mileage on my Vel Satis, I doubt the resale value will be much anyway, unless they've become modern day classics even more than they are already.

Do you use your Vel Satis regularly, Richard? I got mine 6 months ago and love it, even despite having to pay a fortune recently for new tyres and brakes. I love the fact they're rare, conversation starters, very comfortable and with great equipment levels, even if some bits lik sat nav (and my parking sensors) break!
