Dodgy paint?

Still getting used to being a Renault owner, and after yesterday I have to say the jury is still out.
Washed the car yesterday which had a week's worth of insect remains on the bonnet and bumper. They wouldn't wash off. They wouldn't rub off. They wouldn't scrub off. I ended up trying to get the insect stains off with T-Cut, unsuccessfully I have to say. They have all left stains similar to those from bird dropping and appear to have damaged the paint.

I rang the dealer, who entered David Attenborough mode and informed me of a known issue with Mayflies. That as may be, but in over 600miles I doubt that every flying insect other than a mayfly has managed to avoid the front of my car.

They agreed to look at it, but has anyone else suffered a similar problem, or is Renault paint just no good? I had noticed that you only have to sneeze too close to it and it scratches, or is it just mine?
