Hello and welcome to the forum.
The only proper way to alter the beams correctly is to buy a pair of right hand drive headlights,although I suspect you could get away with 'beam benders' or masks that stick on to the headlight lense for a while.The car would pass an MOT with these fitted on correctly,but really if you were going to keep the car in this country for any great length of time a correct pair of headlamps would be nesseccary.
Insurance on a left hand drive car is always much more expensive here than a right hand drive one,so thats one thing to look out for.Apart from that,I can't think of anything else obvious that will cause any problems,apart getting tickets at multi-storey car parks and the like from the machines that are on the right hand side of the car.I hope you've got long arms.
I'd rather push my Alfa than drive a BMW....
