Laguna timing belt supply and fit prices

JUST FOR THE ATTENTION OF FELLOW LAGUNAS OWNERS .......Hi , am at 48 thousand so am getting my timing belt changed and have just phoned around for prices , suply and fit ,

MAIN DEALER ( evans halshaw ) = 480 -
INDEPENDANT GARAGE ( renault specialist ) = 278 -

The independant advertises himself as a "renault specialist " I spoke directly to the bloke who,ll be doing the job - he certainly knew his stuff , and broke it down like this .

130 for the kit
120 for the labour
14 for the seals
14 for the aux belt
35 ish V.A.T.

313 total .

Mines a 2.0L and he said it might not be nesesary to cahnge out the water pump, but would check it over while he was doing the belt.

The main dealer warned me they will be on the look out for other stuff that may require fixing or changing but basically about 500 - 550 with the VAT. but it wauld all be proper renault spares .

so there ya go , either way just think of the cost if it went snap
