I had the same problem on a Mk 1 Laguna, I don't remember from where I had the information but I found out it was most important to try to keep the removed dash in the same position that it fits with the car avoid turning it upside down etc, I dunno but I guess it must be something to do with the LCD display unit.

Worthy of note, avoid buying the replacement bulbs from Renault at the time (about 6 - 8 years ago from Renault the bulbs cost 2 each from a local motor factor I bought about 20 costing 0:10 each.

Finally although it may already have been mentioned, make sure that you have the Radio code if you intend removing the battery
