2005 Renault Clio 1.2 Electronic Fault
For the past 3 months I have experienced an intermittent fault with my 2005 Renault Clio 1.2, where by the electronic fault warning light will appear and the car will go into a limp home state. This forces me to pull over and turn the engine off. When I turn the engine back on, the light disappears and all is well, although I have noticed a small decrease in performance after it has happened. Sometimes it triggers another light to appear which is the exhaust gas monitor warning light. It has been in 3 different garages including renault themselves, none of which have been able to diagnose the problem. The first garage plugged the car into thier diagnostics machine and it came up with a fault code to do with the
, which they replaced. A few weeks later it happened again, so I took it back and this time it came up with a fault code to do with the throttle pedal sensor which they also replaced. Niether of these resolved the problem as it happened again. I decided to take it straight to renault as I was certain they would be able to fix the problem, this was not the case. They also plugged it into thier diagnostics machine and it showed no codes. They told me they would have to see the problem happen before they could do anything. I left the car with them for 4 days in the hope it would occur during that time, unfortunatly it didn't. I then took it to an electronics specialist who also could not diagnose the problem. I have looked through the forum and have found that this is a common problem with the older model Renault Clio, but not with mine. Most of the causes seemed to be the small black box behind the engine that damages the wireing loom through vibration. This has been checked by 2 of the garages and there is no problem. I have not been able to find a similar problem occuring on Clio's of my age on any forum. Can anyone help?
