Dont forget to keep an eye on the engine temperature.
The fan switch sensor which is on the right of the radiator can packup, I've been through a few over the years. Most noticeable when the car is in traffic and the temp starts climbing above half way and theres no fan noise!.
(ive spent many a happy... hrmm un-happy hour parked up on the pavement with hazards flashing, waiting for the temps to drop so i can continue driving)
As a thought, always keep a long heavy duty paperclip in the car and use it to short the pins of the fan sensor plug, so you can always get the fans working at full tilt (to cool the radiator) even if the temp sensor has given up the ghost. I keep mine looped around the battery handle for easy access
This has gotten me home more than once after that pesky 3pin blue/black banded sensor has died, just have to remember to pull the clip off after you get home, or your gonna flatten the battery.
(some later temp sensors have 2 pins, just depends on how many Fans you have on the radiator, some are 1 some are 2, depends on if you got aircon etc...)
