its not that bad
get the replacement stalk
park up, pull the battery, let the electrics discharge.

check to see if you can get the steering column covers off without taking the wheel off 1st!

3 or 4 smaller torx to take the steering column covers off.
1 torx on the front to release the audio control stick.
couple of small torx to release the upper column cover.

you might be able to take the stalks off without taking wheel off. x2 torx running between each side of stalks hold each other on.
replace stalk , reassemble

2 torx in the back of the wheel to release the air bag. (only take this off if you have no other option!)
1 loose nut behind the wheel
pull the wheel off, remember what position was, best to mark it.

take care reconnecting the airbag, and finaly reconnect the battery, hopefully there wont be any problems with the airbag system with coneectivity.
and no more wireing fires
best of luck

having a haynes manual can help then again so can a fire extinguiser!
