Megane Autochanger - it's fixed!
Just in case anyone else hits this problem I now have a better understanding of the issue.
My (non Renault) garage ordered the 'short extension cable' but when it arrived it was a complete replacement cable between the back of the radio and the autochanger unit. Hence instead of a 30 minute job it turned into a 3 hour task!!
The cause of the problem is not that the original cable is too short but rather that during assembly all the slack in the cable is left by the autochanger unit and there is NO SLACK AT ALL at the radio end - hence when the radio is removed the autochanger cable is ripped out and damages the connection.
If you are removing a radio from a Megane - beware!!
