Just read back through this. I reckon I overreacted, and I owe you an apology. Sorry for being an ar$e.

Trouble is that most people are being deadly serious when their car nearly killed them, While I saw the irony of the STOP light, I thought that was secondary to your being upset with Renault that your 8 year old non-franchise maintained car had nearly seen you off. Any car of that age can be a death trap. My first car (7 year old Audi 100) tried to kill me on a number of occasions because I couldn't afford to maintain it properly on top of insuring and putting petrol in it.

Hats off to you for being able to appreciate irony at speed with failed brakes. When I drove the Audi while it was on fire, or when the stub axle sheared off, I was too busy appreciating the effectiveness of underpant elastic in keeping the runny stuff from dripping down my leg.
