I bought a new style megane in Feb and had MAJOR noise problems with the airbox resonator, wiring loom faults, water ingress, faulty dashboard, mirror casing and interior lights. Not bad for a NEW car. My car was replaced after a fight and I am happy to say I am delighted with the replacement - light night and day..
i feel for you , I really do but dont give up ...
If your car was bought under an HP agreement - you should send a letter to your HP company under recorded delivery stating you wish to reject the vehicle under the supply of goods act.... there are templates on the net to assist ( try under Rejecting a motor vehicle) - I would also suggest sending a copy of letter to the car dealer by recorded delivery also. Phone trading standards also - they were a big help.
If under HP - the company own the car and have an interest in its "resaleabililty" and should fight your corner for you.
If your car was bought with a credit card - do the same to them.
You need to give them a reason why you want to reject the vehicle.. Of unsatisfactory quality blah blah. THey did try to say that my noise was a "characteristic " of the car.... B*ll*cks.... It was a fault - fair and square.
I did ask to reject my megane but the dealership were no use giving me the reason the car was now "fixed" route but Renault DID replace my car which is certainly much quieter than the last excuse... Dont give up or be fobbed off by either dealer or Renault UK... they have a responsibility to speak to you and deal with your request.. I wrote to CEO Carlos Ghosn and got a response .... Good luck
Incidentally - the responses I got from forum members were dead helpful - they are a good bunch....
