OK bit of an update. Still can't lose this fault but I've identified a small black gizmo mounted at the upper left hand side of the engine bay as you stand in front - it has a three-way cable feeding it and a rubber pipe that seems to come from the inlet manifold area and has a vacuium in it.
When I remove the pipe I can get the car to tick over much better but it still doesn't like revving very much....and it still stalls when I try to reverse, although it will move forward OK by the look if it (limited room to manoeuvre!)
Anyone know what this little gizmo might be and if its worth replacing?
