OK, from further research it seems that the Coolant Temperature Sensor might be the culpriit?
Does it meet the expectations though in terms of symptoms? which are:
1. Starts but runs very lumpy then dies.
vacuum pipe removed (strong vacuum in pipe and connectors all good) runs better and will tick over but dies under throttle.
warning light illuminated.
4. Reversing lights stuck on, but could be a different issue - led me to suspect auto gearbox sensor fault of some kind but kind of discounted that for now.
5. Battery is fine.
6. Oh and in scenario 1 above, fuel gauge falls back to zero before engine dies.....does the CTS cut power somehow??
