A seductive money pit

For all its faults my Vel Satis is growing on me.. especially when I test-drive other luxury motors and they all feel like chicken coops. Suppose I just have to accept that it will probably cost me more to keep on the road each year than it did to buy in the first place! Had the usual weeping oil seals at 75k and possibly cracked inlet manifold (white smoke on starting from cold) but that now seems to have gone away (she's probably trying to lull me into a false sense of security), now my temperamental cruise control is on the blink (or else drops out within seconds of being engaged). The tyre sensors are a pig to replace and end up costing you more than the new tyre itself (50 to re-set and only possible at dealerships). At least I get 40mpg easy out of the 2.2dci and I impress the ladies with my bargain basement s (they don't know any better)
