sounds like your dashpod went into test mode.
To get into test mode you press & hold the button on the end of the wiper stalk that controls the trip / mileage computer while you switch on the ignition....after a second or two test mode starts & the gauges flick through the full range....to stop test mode just remove the keycard (turn the ignition off)
On some cars you need to hold the trip counter reset button (the one that sticks out of the dashpod face) instead of the button on the end of the wiper stalk.
Maybe your button was jambed in or something?

thanks for that. solved a little confusion. it explains everything. was thinking about ringing the ghostbusers at one point :D what do the things mean on test mode then exactly? is it a good way of knowing everthings fine on the car?
