Is Clio2 OBD2 compatible?

Clio mark 2 1200 expression 2004
Found fault code connector, with help from this forum but having connected, my reader (memoscan 581) hung at the download stage, for about 5 mins. Normally takes 10secs on other cars.

Before I refer back to supplier, manufacturer, whatever (not their fault, the reader is working fine in general) is anyone else experiencing this?

The info they supply says the only way to tell whether a car is OBD2 compliant (probably all are now but the Clio2 was a 1998 design?) is check what pins are present on the connector. Of the 16 pin locations in 2 rows, mine has
14 15 16
Which is according to literature supplied with reader "ISO15765 CAN" so should be compliant.
Not a problem at this stage but would like to get connected up if possible. Thanks
