We have been trying to acquire an MkIV Grand Espace for the last few weeks. We missed a few and then ultimately had a "sod it" moment and agreed to get a 53-plate car from a dealer almost 200 miles away without as much as kicking any of the proverbial tyres upon which it stood (spotted on Autotrader/
listings). We're buying the car, getting cambelt/aux timing belt and waterpump changed and having it delivered. Hopefully this week. And they're taking our existing vehicle away as P/X. The (independent) dealer has provided six months "Autoprotect" warranty (Silver Cover) and it will have a Renault 25-pt healthcheck before making it's way to us. Total outlay about £6k (less our car).
The Espace is the 3.0 V6 Diesel variant, a Privilege and appears to have been looked after. Described as "Stunning" but we know it probably won't be, it's had five or six services up to 75,000 miles - which is the current mileage and looks to be unmarked.
So, although this is not the ideal way to purchase a used car, we've done it and so now I'm worried about what I need to be checking when it gets here over and above Renault's glorified 'oilcheck'.
Awaiting advice with much anticipation
