Hello and welcome to the forum
The amber "service" light isnt indicating that the car needs a service (as in new
), rather that the car has a fault and needs attention or "service". Therefore you wont be able to reset it until the fault that has been causing this light to illuminate is fixed.
Is there any other lights lit up on the dashboard at the same time as the service light ? Things like the air bag light, abs light, handbrake light on permanently etc ?
Ideally you need to get the fault codes read from the cars memory which will tell you which sensor / part etc is faulty (well thats the theory anyway).
