Question toxic fumes warning light

hi i have a 2003 laguna 1.8 16v recently i had trouble starting the car (took repeated attempts to start, turned over ok but did not fire) today it took four attempts to start but then the toxic fumes warning light came on & won't go off.starting problem seems to have been due to duff ignition coil .the car now starts & seems to run fine but the light is still on.i took it out for a run & it seems ok,no misfire no lack of power,no sulphur type stink from exhaust & fuel consumption seems ok (37-38 mpg at 70-80 mph) so my question is do the error codes in the ecu need to be erased before the light will go of or do i have another problem i:e a faulty lambda sensor.
