Right, the catch in the first picture, did anything plug into that? If it did, then that'll be the solenoid nestled neatly in the top of the catch. That's the part that will mechanically move the catch when the electrical current is passed through it. Are you able to stick the catch on the car you tested the button on? If you are and it doesn't work then it is the solenoid that's fubar. Best bet to get one at a reasonable price would be a breakers yard

The second picture is your rear screen wiper motor is it not?????
