Apart from the ABS controller being faulty there are a number of other possibilities which may be worth checking first.
It could be a duff electrical connection to the ABS controller. If this aspect is faulty and the diagnostic equipment can't communicate with it - then it assumes the unit itself to be faulty. Doh - dumb computers LOL!!
Secondly it may be worth checking the wiring loom to the
as it may be damaged - a common fault on the Clios.
Both checks would cost very little to do and may be the problem.
When selecting another ABS unit it may be prudent to cross check part numbers.
