Ok. First thing is to take it back to the dealer. You have rights as a consumer. By law they must endeavour to attempt to fix any problems

You need to be reasonable - you can't expect them to deal with wear and tear. You could argue, however, that you consider this to be an essential safety device and that you expect them to fix it

EDIT: You might not get away with this if you noticed the light when you picked it up
