1.the key has a transponder that performs a handshake with the receiver around the ignition , so yes, you do by the sound of it need a new key, these do go faulty (keys)
order 2 , you will need them and you should only get 1 programming charge
2, not applicable
3.very unlikely , once started you could, if inclined . remove the transponder chip from the key , the vehicle would run untill you switched the ignition off , then would not start again untill the receiver saw the transponder had been replaced
4. no , just get new keys ordered. hth steve
