I do all my servicing myself.... oil , oil filter, air filter and spark plugs each time and only costs me ***8364;52. While I'm servicing it every 5.5k miles I check breaks, bushings, drive boots, gear box oil , coolent, brake and power steering fluid, check exhaust boxes and rubber holders etc.

I also replaced the coolent, rad, thermostat, back drums, shoes, front disks, pads and calipers, all shocks, top shock mounts, springs and track rod ends myself. None is rocket science!

My attitude is give it a try an if I can't do it then I'll pay someone to do it. I've done 100,000 miles and the car has never been in a garage or failed its test and i reckon I've saved a packet doing it myself....and I'm sure a garage mechanic under pressure would miss something.
Currently in renofan's garage:
1997 Laguna 1.8 8v RT Sport. Black. V6 Leather Interior. Wood Trim on Dash. Monroe Gas "Reflex" Shocks. Sport Springs. Sparco Strut Brace. Team Dynamics Sword Alloys. 6 Disc CD Changer. Tow Bar. Crystal side repeaters. Currently 183,000 miles done. Airflow spoiler, new '00 model headlights, backlights and DRLs waiting to be fitted....
