boot catch

My Laguna boot catch is sticking, and no amount of WD40 is helping. It takes a good 5 slams to get it to lock. There's no apparent problem with the electrics etc, just that the boot won't shut properly. Renault say it's not covered by warranty (surely this isn't considered wear and tear??) - has anyone changed their own boot lock??
