However with that in mind I 've just replaced the complete coil pack this morning with a new one and the car is a lot better but still not perfect and the Engine management light is still flashing away.It now appears that all of the cylinders are doing something because the engine misfires when each of the 4 plug leads are disconnected in turn which it didn't do when 2 and 3 cylinder plug leads were disconnected with the old coil pack.But its still on 3 Cylinders under acceleration or load.The exhaust note is still uneven at idle as though a cylinder is not firing but as I said all 4 of the plugs are firing as the engine gets very rough when a lead is disconnected.

Whilst the new
seems to have improved things has the colour of the ignition spark changed much as you were saying earlier it was an orange colour. If the spark remains poor on these cylinders it may be the ignition leads are breaking down.
