thanks for the advice. ive done 2 coats of lacquer on one of my mirrors but its got like a very light orange skin affect on it. its not major but its not perfectly smooth either.
im back to square one with the handles, or atleast the lock bezels. the lacquer seems to have formed into a puddle and has also went white... so im in the process of rubbing it back off.
The orange peel effect can be compounded and polished to improve the situation - but it'll need a few days to harden beforehand.
Lacquer will go white with a build-up of bubbles (are you spraying too close?), or if moisture contaminates the surface (a bit of heat required).
It is very difficult to achieve a 'glass-like' finish, so be realistic about what results you are obtaining, as most people will not be as critical of your work as you are.
This job should never be complete - the day I think I've done it all, is the day I resign.
