Well I removed the Top Dead Centre Sensor thingy and gave it a good clean and sprayed some wd40 on it and it has been starting first time everytime now with no problem. If t happens again in the future I am confident that I can either clean it up or replace it with no issues.
With regards the heat shield, I have spoke to my cousin who said he had a similar problem with his Fiat Punto and just pulled it off and it sorted it out, so he will do the same for me.
Is a heat shield necessary though, it must be there for a reason. Would it matter too much if it was simply removed?
dont remove the heat shiels as you could end up catching your car alight. the heat given off by a cat is tremendous. bodge it by all means if it keeps it in place but dont remove it
