you need to check if the steering lock is at fault, if it not on with card removed them this is more likely to be your problem, you can change these yourself as they don't need coding but they keep a code on starting, remeber if you do change it the securing bolt is left hand thread turn it the wrong way and it will shear, (designed this way) and you will be in real ¤¤¤¤ then. This bolt can only be removed if the steering lock is off, try to remove it with it on and you will be in the same ¤¤¤¤. If your steering lock is on then i would suggest trying a code reader out of a doner car. they are not coded.
