low compression would cause it not to start from cold, i used to do a companies fleet of kangoo's and the ones that missed their service would suffer big time, after the first start of the day most would be ok, but some would not start even after a couple of hours, normally they will sound slightly odd when cranking if compression is a problem. A leak of test may point you in the right direction if that is the fault but a renault clip test or simular would give you a better and quicker place of where to start.
