Hi. I want to upgrade the H1 mainbeam bulbs on my 01 Laguna dCi Tourer, (has Xenon dip beams). Anyone done this? recommendations re 'brighter / whiter' bulbs greatly appreciated. Thanks
By law the brightest you headlamp bulbs can be are 60w main beam and 55w dipped beam, you can get lamps that give you "cleaner" light that look brighter (blue light or xenon,) but the only way to increase the wattage is to use off-road (rally) lamps 100w or 150w (H1,H3 or H7 fittings)... not road legal and you have to file the tab off to make them fit normal headlamps (thats maybe only H3 fittings .. cant remember
) or go for a HiD conversion but that involves changing the headlamp and you have Xenon already ... may not fit..
If you go down the "rally" bulb route then take care you may need extra/heavier relays and may need to beef up the cabling as it way outside the operating zone for normal headlights.
hope it helps
Why is it the older I get .... the better I think I was ?
