Driving in France is a real chore. You need (to be legal),
warning triangle, first aid kit, spare bulb kit, hi viz vest for anybody in the vehicle, beam benders. The fact you are driving a Satis may let you slip the net, but the gendarmes are getting very fussy with UK registered vehicles and can meter out large on the spot fines for not having the above.
Having said that the French autoroutes are well lit, very fast & smooth, and the motorway services are in a different league to the crap we have to put up with.
Two points here:
Even though high vis vest manufacturers suggest otherwise, the actual law for France is 1 vest in the cabin, nothing more. This is the AA's understanding too.
A spare bulb kit is also not required in France, but bulb manufacturers will say otherwise
I carry both anyway.
