To cut a long story short, we drove about 30 miles in this car after taking delivery and the display said "Stop - engine in danger of overheating".
Despite passing the Renault Healthcheck only a few days earlier it now needs a new engine as the cylinder linings are buckled. The new cambelt/waterpump had been fitted incorrectly and the muscle part of the car was getting next-to no cooling. I stress, Renault themselves (a main London dealer) passed the car as essentially okay only a few days earlier.
The warranty company were prepared to source a replacement/recon engine and fit it but we've opted for a refund. I don't suppose Renault would have been embarrassed enough to heavily subsidise a new engine in the circumstances (would they ?).
If anyone wants me to make that short story long then I'd be happy to oblige.
