The MOT examiners in the the Republic of Ireland and in Northern Ireland no longer accept the VIN number on the windscreen as proof of vehicle identity and insist on checking the number stamped or engraved into the metal bodywork.
I have seen one windscreen Vin label begin to curl but it was on a Lag II where the windscreen had benn replaced with an no-reflective unit. I have also seen some labels deteriorate after screen replacement where the screen fitter has used some quite agressive cleaning solvents.
