If you drove the car into Garage and it was possible to remove the lock in the normal way then it does seem a lot.
I would have thought that an hours labour plus a diagnostic check would be enough.

A few months back I had a Scenic in for a faulty lock.
The customer had tried to remove the lock themselves and had broken the securing bolt.
I had to remove the column and drill out the broken bits, fit new lock and test on clip.
546.00 inc VAT.
