best thing is to get the head unit ripped out with some pullers, then pop down to the local main dealship, get the car re-registered on thier computers as now being yours, and ask nicely if they could lookup the codes for you, with the head unit in one hand and and the V5 in the other.
my local dealership was kind enough to supply the codes for the old unit and another i ripped out of a scrapped car (i had to have the vin and reg number for them to look up) and immediatly wrote the code on the unit
oh and smile nicely if its a young lady on the desk (it worked for me
