you could just find some cardboard boxes (usually out back of some shops and flatten it, then cut it to size and put several layers on each face to protect the alloys, wrap some more cardboard round the tyre, then use duck or packing tape to tape it all together.
or pop round your local motorfactors (any shop that sells alloy wheels) and ask nicely if they happen to have any carboard boxes that are the same size as your alloy you want to ship.
i tried this a few years ago and they had a rummage out the back and came back with some flattened boxes and let me have them for free.
most shops have the alloys delivered in boxes, some come in double(pair) boxes. and are just rubbish to them, as the alloys are sold fitted with wheels.
shipping price for x2 wheeels packaged up together is (or was the last time i checked) about £20-30 for uk national 3 day delivery.
