Does thast mean they've decided to fix it then? If so, you may as well have new parts. It won't affect your no-claims or excess any differently.

But if they're billing the insurance for new parts, try to make sure that you get the new parts. One of the oldest tricks in the book is to order new parts, submit the invoices to the insurers, repair/refit the old parts and then send the new ones back for a credit. I'm not suggesting that your body shop would do this, but I know from someone in the trade that it goes on... and with some of the big name independent repairers too.
