i would suggest a torque wrench, the type with a long needle on, these tell you how tight the bolt is as you do it up and you can tell if you are going to strip a thread before it goes if you are carefull. (saved me many problems on motor bikes before).
i'd also recommend some barrier cream unless you like scrubbing the skin off your hands until they bleed.
a digital meter might be usefull as most things are eletric and stop working at some time.
