Mr Monk do you have access to a Volt Ohm meter = VOM?
If you do, and can get the car started check the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running, with a good alternator this will read around 13.5 volts or maybe a little more.
Again with the engine running if it reads 12 volts or worse, even less, then you're talking about a poorly alternator or charging circuit.
