I wouldnt go buying anything yet mate.

If the repair is taking this long to autherise, I'd suspect (from working in insurance) it is VERY close to being a total loss. The estimate will have gone back and forth to the insurer a good few times allready!

If you buy anything on the plastic, The insurer doesn't have to give you anything as your doing that off your own back, All you can do is ring the insurer, Ask for the "present position" on the claim, Whats the delay etc.

I agree though, Sounds like the car has had a hell of a hit! (or taken the impact badly, wrong angle of impact etc)
