what kills them....

sticking it in the microwave.... (no risk there for skatz then)

chucking anything that has semiconductors in through a x-ray machine!!! - they use x-rays to etch the chips when they make them!, so re-xraying them will cause damage to the guts of the chip, only a little at a time, but keep doing it and your mega expensive canon camera is going to die!
as is your watch, keycard etc... (tin-foil wont save it either)

dropping it in a pint of: beer, acid, soft fizzy drink (and then not washing it put with distilled water or isoproponal alcohol to get the acidic liquid off)

living too close to a US airbase or other .Gov security establishment with large golf balls hiding very big long range radar arrays that chuck out lots of microwave radiation... more of a interference issue really.

and no scatz, they make you chuck everything through the x-ray machine.... that includes my steely DM's
