chucking anything that has semiconductors in through a x-ray machine!!! - they use x-rays to etch the chips when they make them!, so re-xraying them will cause damage to the guts of the chip, only a little at a time, but keep doing it and your mega expensive canon camera is going to die!
as is your watch, keycard etc... (tin-foil wont save it either)

So Mord, what you're saying is, putting a Renault keycard through an airport security scanner/X-ray machine would damage it eventually, but infrequent scans would be ok? I only go away once a year...
