I have seen a similar question posed on numerous camera club forums and to date I have found no negative outcomes of digital cameras checked by airport x-ray security systems. Current x-ray scanner systems aren't even likely to affect ordinary film unless it is of around 800 ISO plus.
In fact it seems the recommendation is to allow your electronic equipment to be checked using X-rays rather than a magnetic scanning device.
Better still X-ray equipment is used to check out the position of heart pace-makers inside real people but they don't use MRI as it may cause damage to the electronics. In other words magnetic sources can cause damage but the risk of damage from X-rays are minimal.
