Airport and security X-Ray scanners (no matter how big) will NOT cause damage to electronic items. I know because my job is in this field!!
The old stories about cameras and X-Ray sets was to do with damaging the film, but the scanners are so low powered that they cannot even damage regular camera film.
Have a think about this one.... If you have an X-Ray on your tooth or body part, your body is placed in between an X-Ray set and a plate of film. Various densities of your body parts absorb some of the energy from the X-Rays, what gets through you exposes the film and the result is a picture of varying intensities based on the density of what it has been through.
So if an airport scanner can't expose the film in a camera, think how much bigger the one in the dentist / hospital is that you get directly exposed to!!
